Nicola and Melissa had another great session in August:

“We had 8 grown ups and 14 kids to feed… but was lots of fun. We made two types of Turkish Borek with a roasted red pepper dip and there was melon sorbet for a post clean-up treat!”

Session is for 5 and under, siblings very welcome as we are in holiday time, but will have to work around the younger kids. There is plenty of space outside and inside to play.

Rebecca will be planning this session on Monday 10th at the Scout Hut from 4pm with anyone that would like to help – we will talk about what we like to eat and decide the recipe.  This session is a bit different as we will also have a photographer taking some pictures of the food – and us! for Waltham Forest Eats community calendar.

washing upIdeas so far… a gorgeous tomato salad with squidged fresh local tomatoes… rice salad with lots of chopping and snipping and tearing of veggies to go in, maybe some rolling and mixing of pastry for some mini tarts…?!

Walthamstow: Carrot and Courgette Spaghetti with Berry Ice Cream!

eating2Thanks so much for today!!  Both my kids loved it!  Excellent value and a beautiful menu!

Nicky and Melissa ran their third session in Walthamstow this week, this time at Nicky’s house.  Nicky says….
“It was a great success, a really fun vibe. The kids all had a great time and all the food was demolished! We made berry coconut ice cream (in cones for the kiddies), carrot and courgette spaghetti with sun dried tomato pesto, and a giant sharing platter of crudites with jam jars of dressing to dip in.”

Nicky managed this after only an hour’s sleep with a sick one-year-old! More photos below.

If you’d like to be part of sessions in Walthamstow – either coming along, or helping out, please get in touch by email and sign up to the mailing list.

Penge East Community Centre

Thanks to all for a wonderful morning at the Penge East Community Centre last week – Aneta who organised, and her two lovely children, and her two friends who helped look after them!

Some pictures are below – as ever we created the tastiest food, Vietnamese Summer Rolls packed with flavour and tried out a few gadgets along the way!  Of course, what better way to end the session than a digger to look at.

Thanks for coming!  We are planning another on Wednesday 19th August – Aneta is planning mini pizza rolls with dough from scratch –  book now!

Aneta would like to continue the session, and the space is wonderful – each session needs at least 2 regular volunteers who are excited by getting people together, great food or both – get in touch if you’d like to be part of it.

Kids Kitchen: Penge and Sydenham

If you would like to be part of this Kids Kitchen – helping to set up, cook, plan – please email info@kidskitchen.org.uk – for this session to continue we need a group of people to run it and you can do this with your child.  We have lots of support available – read more here.
