Nicola and Melissa had another great session in August:

“We had 8 grown ups and 14 kids to feed… but was lots of fun. We made two types of Turkish Borek with a roasted red pepper dip and there was melon sorbet for a post clean-up treat!”

Please join us on 14th August at the Mallinsons Scout Hut near Highams Park Lake for Fab Fun Food Times!

From 10am to 1pm help your kids cook their own delicious healthy lunch from organic and local ingredients without having to worry about the mess.

At 12 we sit down to eat our – always lovely – creation!

Session is for 5 and under, siblings very welcome as we are in holiday time, but will have to work around the younger kids. There is plenty of space outside and inside to play.

Rebecca will be planning this session on Monday 10th at the Scout Hut from 4pm with anyone that would like to help – we will talk about what we like to eat and decide the recipe.  This session is a bit different as we will also have a photographer taking some pictures of the food – and us! for Waltham Forest Eats community calendar.

washing upIdeas so far… a gorgeous tomato salad with squidged fresh local tomatoes… rice salad with lots of chopping and snipping and tearing of veggies to go in, maybe some rolling and mixing of pastry for some mini tarts…?!

E4 Feast March 2015

109“We all absolutely loved it and the boys want to come again… as soon as possible!”

Mister Maker meets Masterchef…  parents, kids and friends cook up a three-course storm together and then sit down and eat it – that was our E4 Feast in March.  Some really passionate little chefs, and a few who enjoyed roaming outside as well as prepping, and an incredibly enjoyable walk in the nature reserve to get flowers for the table while lunch was cooking.  Thank you to all who came.

Kids Kitchen at Focus E15

chop1reWe headed down to Newham today for an impromptu session with the Focus E15 mothers, who with others are occupying an empty block of liveable but evicted council flats on the edge of the Olympic Park, evaprepre fighting for decent affordable housing in their borough.  We made a big rice salad and cooked outside in the sunshine!  Thank you to everyone that came, and to Organiclea and their cropshare growers for donating some great veg.  And thanks Focus E15 for having us!
