Volunteer

Come and get involved with Kids Kitchen!  It’s fun, chaotic and inspiring – we really do create an impressively tasty lunch, harnessing the raw power of our under-5s!

If you’re based in South East, North or East London there may be someone we can hook you up with to run a Kids Kitchen.  Get in touch!  info@kidskitchen.org.uk

We run Kids Kitchen as volunteers. We have brought our kids along at 18 months, to 4 years.   These are great roles with or without kids in tow.

There are two possible roles that we have thought of:  ‘Get Involved’ and ‘Chef’.  You may have better ideas… let us know.

Kids Kitchen: The ‘Get Involved’ Volunteer

 What:

  • Set up the space for our little cooking session: moving tables, fetching toys, making a sign –in sheet…
  • Welcome all carers/kids to the session
  • Introduce the session and guide everyone through each cooking activity with ideas for prepping food, encouragement and preparing everyone for what’s coming next.

You’d need to be:

Friendly, able to chat to anyone, to delegate and chivvy people along… having a few good songs up your sleeve is a bonus!

We run Kids Kitchen as volunteers. We bring our kids along – they are 2 and 3. This is a great role with or without kids in tow.

When:

2-3 hours planning

Second Friday of the month, 9am to 12.30

How:

Email Eva and Rebecca at info@kidskitchen.org.uk, tell us why you like the idea and what you think you’d get out of it!

Kids Kitchen: The ‘Chef’ Volunteer

What:

  • Together with other Kids Kitchen volunteers, plan what the under 5s and their carers are going to cook: dairy, egg and meat free.
  • Plan the preparation and cooking into slots of 10-15 minute activities that hold everyone’s attention and keep them busy.
  • Source and prepare quantities of ingredients and utensils needed.
  • Cook!

When:

2-3 hrs planning, plus recipe testing

Second Friday of the month, 9am to 12.30

You’d need to be:

  • Passionate about cooking from scratch with fresh ingredients
  • Happy to delegate everything to a small, messy, erratic person whatever the outcome may turn out to be.
